BEING EXTRAORDINARY
WHY EXTRAORDINARY?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us.”
Marianne Williamson
Read that again.
And again.
We are meant to shine ❤️
Do you thrive on that feeling of success from getting a difficult job done, going above and beyond, and striving for those achievements that are out of the ordinary? Then hats off to you my friend! There is no shame wanting to over achieve, to be out of the norm and be extra ordinary. Why? Because playing small and playing it safe will not necessarily serve us to live our best lives. We could play small so we don’t lose. But if you always play it safe, are you really living?
Yes it is easier to just sit back and play small. But I am reminded of this pearl of wisdom:
“We are all made to fly to realise our incredible potential as human beings. But at times, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, but for most of us they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable and the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre and ordinary instead of exciting, thrilling, and fulfilling. Let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to. Allow ourselves to soar high.”
That's powerful.
The truth is, I have always wanted to be EXTRA ORDINARY. And to have that extra ordinary aspirations and capabilities, I decided from the very start to DO the things that put me in this category.
"BE A DOER”
Yes I am a DOER. Always have been. And starting something means finishing. It’s about fulfilling a mission, to complete a purpose. Note the ‘finishing’ part - many individuals have a good intention of starting something but never actually finishing. They just stop because it gets too hard. Anyway I am not talking about being a workaholic. Rather it is about embracing a task with intent and commitment. The intent is to make it happenand seeing it to the end. Talk is cheap in my book. Action is everything. Geez I always want to know what I am made of!! How far can I push and how much further can I go? What else is there to learn and discover? I grew up watching my dad. He had an amazing work ethic. Super hard worker. His trait possibly had rubbed on me. He lived in poverty as a child and he didn’t want the same for us. One of his story that still touched me to this day was how he only ate boiled rice with salt most days!
YES I WANT TO BE EXTRA.
If being extra means taking risk, then I suggest we take that risk if it means living a happier life full of passion. With risk comes big rewards. I love that! I would one hundred percent have regrets if I wasn’t brave enough to step up, commit and be vulnerable. There would be so many missed opportunities. Whether it is in physical, financial, educational, social relationships, and career. None of my personal achievements to date would have occurred if I choose to "play small." That old saying of “Feel the fear and do it anyway” is true!
But does that also mean I have to chase every goals that present themselves? Hell no. 'Go with the flow'. There are some things in life that are NOT meant to be for us. So I learnt to let them go. Often things are not within our control. 'But whilst it is within our control, we have the power to make it happen'.
The universe subconsciously tells us what to do.
Ultimately, a true success is measured differently from one person to the next. Anyhow, life is not just only about achievements for ourselves. Anything selfless such as helping others, making contribution or giving back is also success in my eyes.
Oh plus, my extra ordinary achievements also comes from being a desperate house wife and completing crossword puzzles & sudoku! 😝
Give yourself permission to be extra.
Thank you for reading ❤️
P. S. Never forget SELF CARE 💗 This may well be the biggest investment a person could achieve. Make room for treats. Have a day off. Don’t do the things you hate. Say ‘No’ when necessary. Quality over quantity. Spend money on experiences that feed the soul, rather than material things.
